Free music Friday nights at State Theatre Centre

A new Friday night concert series is kicking off in the courtyard of the State Theatre Centre of WA - Friday nights at 5pm from October 31 to December 19, 2014.

Some of Perth’s top bands and DJs will perform at a new series of free outdoor concerts on Friday nights at the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia from late next month.

Over eight weeks, artists including Abbe May, Felicity Groom, Red Jezebel and Grace Barbe will entertain concertgoers who will also have the opportunity to grab a drink and something to eat with friends.

RTRFM will also broadcast their Drivetime program live from the courtyard.

Culture and the Arts Minister John Day said the new Courtyard Club concert series was well suited to the courtyard of the State Theatre Centre and would be a welcome addition to the festival vibe in the Perth Cultural Centre over the spring and summer months.

“Typically November and December are when West Australians shake off the winter and gravitate towards the outdoor entertainment Perth has to offer,” Mr Day said.

“It really is a special time of year where the city comes alive and I am delighted the State Theatre Centre will be involved in the festival atmosphere this year. It truly is a remarkable venue and this concert series will ensure even more people are able to take advantage of it.”

The Minister said the Courtyard Club series was another example of the State Government’s commitment, through the Perth Theatre Trust, to support the local arts community.

“This is an exciting new entertainment initiative for the Perth Theatre Trust as they team with local community radio station, RTRFM, on the eight-week Courtyard Club concert series,” he said.

The series will feature about 20 bands and DJs and local singer-songwriter Abbe May will kick off the series on Friday, October 31 with RTRFM DJs Holly Doll and Claire Hodgson.

The Courtyard Club concert series is supported by the Perth Theatre Trust and RTRFM
