Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company Exists To Share Aboriginal Stories.
Yirra Yaakin (Yir-raarh Yaarh-kin] which means “Stand Tall” in Noongar language, is one of Australia’s leading Aboriginal performing arts organisations. The company has been producing and presenting award-winning, world-class theatre that is exciting, entertaining, educational, authentic and culturally appropriate for the past twenty-one years.
Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company has toured six continents and thirteen countries, performed in all states and territories of Australia servicing the most remote and isolated communities. Over 400,000 people have enjoyed Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company performances.
Our current program includes a mixture of contemporary and classic Aboriginal theatre, balanced with our existing community service and education programs.
